How this site finds and draws a pattern

Every chart on this site comes from daily price histories the site keeps itself, for two instruments: COMEX gold futures (GC=F, dollars per troy ounce) and the SPDR gold fund (GLD, dollars per share). Each history is a stored copy of ten years of daily bars, 7 November 2016 to 5 November 2026, read once from Yahoo Finance on 6 November 2026. This page explains how a pattern is found, what the charts show and what the site refuses to do.

What counts as a pattern on the gold charts

A pattern is found by a written rule that is the same for both instruments. The rule looks for the shape itself and states every size in ATR, the average true range of the last 14 sessions: a marubozu is a candle whose range is at least 1.5 ATR and whose body is at least 95 percent of that range; a tweezer is a pair of candles whose highs or lows differ by at most 0.1 ATR; a weekend gap is a Monday open at least 1 ATR from Friday's close. A near miss is not a pattern. The rule does not care what happened next, and a pattern counts only when a close completes it.

A drawn example is a real stretch of the stored history in which the rule found the pattern, not an illustration chosen to look good. Where the rule found more than one occurrence, the caption says how many and that the example is the cleanest by the rule's own measure. A model the rules did not find, three white soldiers and three black crows in this history, gets a page that says so and no chart.

How the gold history is kept

The stored history has the daily bars of gold futures (2,437 bars after cleaning) and of the gold fund (2,513 bars). It was read once, on 6 November 2026, and stored; it is not extended as new closes arrive and no chart is redrawn from a newer copy. The date under every chart says when the source was read. There is no live feed and no claim of one.

One cleaning step comes before any search. A bar whose high equals its low carries no trading range; the source prints some days that way, and on the gold futures 77 such bars were left out. None was found on the fund. Left in, they would pass for an inside bar or a flat neighbour and distort the ATR that every threshold uses.

Both series are in US dollars: gold futures per troy ounce, the fund per share. The site draws no rupee price, so every gap and range on a chart is a move in dollars. The fund and the futures follow the same metal, so a pattern in one is often a pattern in the other, and the counts on the pages are not independent.

What the site refuses to do: signals, price targets, and a score for how good a pattern looks

This site does not make forecasts, signals, or recommendations. A pattern is a description of what price has already done. It is not a score for how good the pattern looks, and it is not a target for where price should go next. The site does not say that a bear flag means price will fall, or that a three soldiers run means price will rise. It says what the pattern is and shows one place where it formed.

The site also does not claim a live market feed. The history is as complete as the site's own records and is not extended after it was read. Nothing on the site ticks live. A reader who wants a live price should look at their broker's platform. A reader who wants a forecast should look elsewhere. This site's job is to teach the pattern, not to tell anyone what to do with it.
